Miami Heat fans were shocked Wednesday night when word of Dwyane Wade’s departure spread through the sports world via social media after the AP released a copy of Dwyane Wade’s “extremely emotional and tough decision” letter announcing he was heading to the Chicago Bulls.

Rumors had been circulating for days about Wade’s future with the Heat. Reportedly, Wade was offered a 2 year $40-million contract to stay in Miami, but he turned it down. (depending upon who you talked to).

Fans took to Twitter and Facebook, the comments and reactions coming fast and furious. CBSSports has twitter reactions from other NBA players and of course some of Wade’s new teammates.

Here’s a sampling:

MIAMI (AP) — The text of Dwyane Wade’s letter to Miami, released Wednesday night to The Associated Press:

Dear Miami,

This has been an extremely emotional and tough decision to come to. After 13 years, I have decided to embark on a new journey with the Chicago Bulls. This was not an easy decision, but I feel I have made the right choice for myself and my family.
