Former presidential candidate Ben Carson has treated himself to a mansion right outside Palm Beach five months after dropping out of the race for the White House.
According to property records in Palm Beach County, Florida, the retired neurosurgeon and wife Candy plunked down $4.37 million for an 8,700-square-foot house in the Old Palm Golf Club near in Palm Beach Gardens.
The house, at 12248 Tillinghast Circle, was listed for $5.4 million in December and was reduced in price several times until Carson swiped it.
The soft-spoken conservative candidate, who rose from obscurity to a front-runner last fall after strong showings in early televised debates, bought the five-bedroom, five-bathroom house from a mortgage company that seized it last year in a foreclosure, records show.
It was built on a one-acre property a few doors down from famous English golfer and latest Masters runner-up Lee Westwood. Westwood’s house is up for sale as part of his on-going divorce.
South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen and developer, owner of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, round up Carson’s famous neighbors.
