By Terri Lynn, SouthFloridaReporter.com, Managing Editor, Sept. 28, 2015 – We know a lot more about Joey Reynolds’ life and he is letting us share it with you.
Joey was Creative Director for 20th Century Fox in the late 70’s. One of his projects was the marketing and development for a new movie the studio was releasing. You might have heard of it—Star Wars!
News of Joey’s talents and acute marketing skills did not go unnoticed. (this was pre-social media and Instagram) On day Joey got a “visit” from Jay Stream, President of the Arabian Horse Association and entertainer, Wayne Newton’s manager. Jay came to deliver a message from Wayne and said Wayne wanted to star in a Western movie, start a record label and wanted Joey to be president of the company.
Joey said, “no” and a few weeks later Jay, together with The Wayne, showed up at Joey’s office. This time Joey said yes.
Joey gave notice to 20th Century Fox and a few months later started to work for Wayne. He opened the office in LA and hired 18 people.
Working for Wayne gave Joey and his wife stability. He travelled extensively and had first- hand knowledge of Wayne’s career. They worked together for 2 years until Joey was offered the unique opportunity to host “Satellite Live,” the first satellite radio show in the world.
Last week Wayne announced that he was opening his palatial Las Vegas estate, Casa de Shenandoah, for tours. Joey encourages everyone to take it.
Here’s his Reynolds Rap.
