South Florida will be quite cool and breezy on Martin Luther King Jr. Day as we begin a stretch of colder than normal winter days. After a cold morning with lows in the low to mid 50s, Monday will feature plenty of sun, some clouds, a cool breeze, and highs mostly in the upper 60s, with maybe a few readings of 70 degrees at the coast.

Tuesday Forecast

Tuesday morning will be chilly, with lows ranging from the upper 40s well inland to the mid 50s at the coast. Highs will just reach the mid to upper 60s on a sunny afternoon.

Wednesday morning will be chilly again, with lows in the low to mid 50s, but a slow warming trend will begin with highs reaching the low 70s during the afternoon.

Thursday morning lows will be in the mid 50s to the low 60s at the coast, and highs will be in the mid 70s as a few more clouds move in.

Friday’s lows will be mostly in the 60s, and we could see a few showers as well as highs in the upper 70s as another front approaches.

She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
