South Florida’s Friday begins with a chilly morning, followed by a sunny afternoon that will warm us up a bit. After winter-like lows to start, Friday will feature lots of sun and blue skies. Dry conditions will mean a high risk of wild fires on Friday in most of South Florida. Highs on Friday will make it into the mid 70s.

Saturday morning will be cool, with lows ranging from the mid 50s inland and along the Gulf coast to the low 60s in the eastern metro areas. Then the day will bring good sun and a few clouds. we’ll also see an increasing risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches through the weekend and beyond. Saturday’s highs will be in the upper 70s.

Sunday will feature plenty of sun and a few clouds at times. Sunday’s highs will be mostly in the low 80s.

Monday will bring a nice mix of sun and clouds. Monday’s highs will be in the low 80s.

Faith Based Events

Look for some showers along with sun and clouds on Tuesday as another front approaches. Highs on Tuesday will be in the upper 70s.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
