In response to the horrific shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and an outpouring of support from Broward Health employees, physicians and community partners, Broward Health Foundation have announced a special “Give from the Heart” fundraising campaign to benefit individuals and families affected by the tragedy.

One hundred percent of donations to the special “Give from the Heart” campaign will help affected individuals and their families, including families of the 17 victims who passed away.

A total of 15 shooting victims were brought to Broward Health North and Broward Health Medical Center, the two trauma facilities located closest to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.  Three patients remain hospitalized.  Two more individuals were treated and released from Broward Health Coral Springs.

In making the announcement, Broward Health President/CEO and Parkland resident Beverly Capasso said a public fundraising effort will reach out to current contributors to Broward Health Foundation, as well as community partners of Broward Health.  Monies raised will be combined with the results of an employee giving campaign, which will be earmarked for persons affected by the school shooting.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our employees, physicians and many others to help our community heal,” said Capasso.  “Our ‘Give from the Heart’ campaign means the fundraising power of Broward Health Foundation will soon add to funds already raised by many caring individuals and organizations in Broward County and beyond.”
