BOCA RATON — The first scenes of the Baywatch movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron were filmed in Boca Raton today and over the weekend, and several clues about the direction of the flick already emerged.
It seem the writers of the project, scheduled to be released in May 2017, are using South Florida as the setting instead of the series’ main locations in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Hawaii.
How do we know?

Big-screen stars Johnson (Race to Witch Mountain, San Andreas) and Efron (17 Again, Neighbors)were spotted on a boat used for the movie with Broward County on the bow in addition to the classic Baywatch markings.
And The Rock, clad in red, seems to have inherited the role of David Hasselhof‘s Mitch Buchannon, the lieutenant of the lifeguards.
