Audiobook of “Hushabye: The Mystics, the Music, and the Mob” Released

Al Contrera, a founding member of the doo-wop hit group, the Mystics, and author of the riveting book, Hushabye: The Mystics, the Music, and the Mob today announced the release of the audiobook version of his hugely successful book.

“This is a milestone for me and the book,” Contrera said. “So many people were asking for the audiobook and I am proud to say it’s now available.”

Hearing a story in the first person has no equal. It’s one thing to read a compelling book. It’s an entirely new dimension when you hear it directly from the person who has lived every moment of a story.

The audio version of Hushabye: The Mystics, the Music, and the Mob took months of time in the recording studio with Contrera averaging three hours at each session. Listening time is eight hours and 56 minutes from start to finish and includes some musical surprises.

Faith Based Events

“Writing the book was fulfilling but recording it in my own voice was an emotional journey. I’m so proud of the final product. My sincere gratitude goes out to Vini Poncia, Alfredo Scotti, Joe Esposito and Eddie Hokenson for their creative input,” he added.

The action-packed narrative centers on the five Mystics – Al Contrera, Phil Cracolici, Albee Cracolici, Bob Ferrante and George Galfo, who Contrera describes as a group of misguided teenagers “heading in the wrong direction” and were ultimately saved by their friendship and shared passion for music.

The audiobook is available directly from most audiobook sites as well as Audible.com and can be downloaded to whatever device the end-users listen to.

Contrera hopes readers and listeners interested in the nostalgic period from 1950’s and 60’s will find Hushabye: The Mystics, the Music, and the Mob particularly fascinating, as it offers insights into the music industry during the era. Beyond that, the story shares a timeless message.

“Readers should take away the fact that it is possible for anyone to succeed in anything as long as you work hard and aren’t afraid to take a chance.”
