Award season moved into the homestretch on Thursday with the announcement of the 88th annual Academy Award nominations.

Sylvester Stallone proved to be the season’s big comeback story, earning a Best Supporting Actor nod for his beloved turn in Creed, alongside heavy favorites Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, Cate Blanchett, Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet and Alicia Vikander.

The Oscars – to be presented Feb. 28 – honor the year’s top films in 24 categories.
