Pleasant Start Before Storms Roll In Late Tonight

Pleasant start before storms
Evening forecast

South Florida will get a one-day break from stormy weather on Saturday, but not before a very foggy start. A dense fog advisory was in effect until 9 am Saturday, with most of the mainland starting the day socked in with fog. But a pleasantly warm and mostly dry day is in store, with just a chance of a stray shower, sun and clouds, and Saturday afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

image3Storms will return on Sunday, with a squall line forecast to move through during the early to mid morning hours, bringing strong winds, periods of heavy rain, and even the possibility of an isolated tornado. Highs will top out in the upper 70s around midday, before a cold front sweeps through. Temperatures will drop overnight, and Monday morning lows will be in the 50s.

We’ll begin a stretch of several days of colder weather, with highs near 70 degrees on Monday, with plenty of sun and a cool breeze.

Tuesday will be chilly, with highs only in the upper 60s, and Wednesday morning will be cold, with lows mostly in the low 50s.

Wednesday’s highs will be in the low 70s, and Thursday will be only slightly warmer, with highs in the low to mid 70s.

In the Atlantic, Alex has weakened and lost its tropical characteristics, closing out the career of a very rare January hurricane.
