Ringing Out 2015 with Record Heat

Ringing in the new year

By Donna Thomas, SouthFloridaReporter.com Meteorologist, Dec. 31, 2015 – South Florida is ringing out 2015 with record heat, but some changes are coming for 2016. Meanwhile, the heat is on once again on Thursday, with a muggy morning in the 70s, some passing showers during the day, and highs in the mid 80s, closing out the warmest December on record in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

image5The evening will be mostly nice for New Year’s Eve celebrations, with temperatures in the upper 70s at midnight and just a quick shower in spots.

2016 will start out on the warm side, with Friday’s highs in the mid 80s as we wait for a front on its way to South Florida. That front is expected to stall over or near us, bringing rain and eventually more seasonable temperatures, but Saturday will reach the low 80s as showers roll in. Sunday will be cloudy and rainy, with some storms possible, and highs will be in the upper 70s. Monday and Tuesday will feature lows in the 60s and highs in the mid 70s, but lots of clouds and plenty of rain (even localized flooding in spots) are also in the forecast.
