Lundberg Family Farms is voluntarily recalling select bags of its jasmine white rice sold at grocery stores nationwide, including Wegmans. A spokesperson for Lundberg told Health that the recalled rice may contain foreign material, which poses a safety hazard. The recall has the second-highest risk level, Class II, but no illnesses have been reported to date.

Which Rice Was Recalled?

You can identify the recalled rice with the following info:

  • Product name: Regenerative Organic Certified® White Jasmine Rice
  • Size: 2 lbs
  • UPC: 073416- 040281
  • Best-by dates and lot codes: 02/01/2027, 260201 and 02/02/2027, 260202
  • Affected quantity: 4,500 cases

What You Should Do

According to the Lundberg spokesperson, the company has reported the recall to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but the agency has yet to release an announcement with instructions for consumers. That said, as a Class II recall, the safest option is not to eat the recalled rice and to throw it away. If you purchased the rice from Wegmans, you can also return it for a full refund.
