October 9, 2025 — In a move tied to a newly brokered Gaza ceasefire deal, the United States is deploying roughly 200 troops to Israel to help monitor and coordinate the truce without directly entering Gaza, U.S. officials confirmed Thursday.

The troops will serve as the core of a joint task force alongside Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and possibly the United Arab Emirates. Their mission will include establishing a civil-military coordination center to facilitate humanitarian aid, oversee logistics, and minimize risks of clashes between regional forces and Israeli military units.

Officials emphasized that “no U.S. troops are intended to go into Gaza” itself.  The precise base of operations has not yet been selected, though some reports suggest Egyptian territory may host the center.

This deployment comes as Israel and Hamas agreed to a first phase of a ceasefire under a 20-point peace plan, with Israel agreeing to withdraw to specified lines and release hostages. Hamas confirmed its acceptance of the terms, which include a prisoner swap and the exchange of captives within 72 hours of Israeli withdrawal.

Faith Based Events

Israel’s cabinet has formally approved the agreement, setting the plan in motion. But questions remain over longer-term governance in Gaza, disarmament of Hamas, and how to prevent renewed conflict.

As the U.S.-led force works on coordination and stabilization, the eyes of the region will be on how effectively these mechanisms hold and whether further escalations can be avoided.
