Tropical Storm Erin Forms in Eastern Atlantic

The wave in the eastern Atlantic is now Tropical Storm Erin.  Erin is expected to be the 2025 Atlantic season’s first hurricane.

As of 11 am, TS Erin was about 280 miles west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and about 2,305 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands.  At that time, TS Erin was moving west at 20 miles per hour and had maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour.

TS Erin is expected to strengthen, possibly to major hurricane status by Saturday morning.  Computer models indicate several days of movement to the west, followed by a turn to the west-northwest.  It’s too early to tell Erin’s future track beyond Saturday — but we’ll keep a close eye on it.
