The 10 Best Beaches in Florida

Clearwater Beach on the Gulf

#1 Clearwater Beach

This number one pick should not be a surprise. Clearwater Beach has been at the top of every major list of the top beaches in Florida for many years. A beautiful beach, miles of white powder sand, tons of activities,  a busy marina and a famous marine aquarium all come together for a family friendly memorable experience.

Siesta Beach is wide and long.

#2 Siesta Key Beach

Another island beach that is highly rated on many worldwide lists. Located near Sarasota, this wide beach offers white, cool sand, acres of parking and a quaint downtown with shops, restaurants and art galleries.  With Sarasota just across a bridge, all the attractions in this Gulf community are just minutes away.

#3 Caladesi Island Beach

Located in Caladesi Island State Park, this beach has the feel of a remote Caribbean island beach. Accessible by a 20-minute ferry boat ride, the island offers wildlife trails,  public boat docks, shelters and a consession cafe. Small crowds, clear water and sandy shores greet visitors seeking a more adventurous beach.

Beaches on the Gulf Coast of Florida St. George Island

#4 St. George Island Beach

Several miles of the beaches on this 28-mile-long island are located within St. George Island State Park. Located in the Florida Panhandle, this rarely crowded beach is widely known for great bird watching, fishing, and long days of lounging on the beach. Nearby is the quaint Gulf Coast town of Apalachicola.

St. Pete Beach

#5 St. Pete Beach

St. Pete Beach never gets the recognition it deserves because it is just 15 miles south of Clearwater Beach. Yet the sandy beaches have white sand and wide paths along the Gulf. Hotels and restaurants line the beach for 3 miles. There are plenty of activities, such as paddleboarding, parasailing, jet skiing, and much more. Public parking is available in several locations.
