The Sunshine State is famous for powdery white sand and glittering turquoise waters. Not surprisingly, Florida beaches frequently make it into rankings of the best beaches in the country and even the world. It’s hard to go wrong with a visit to any beach in Florida, but if you want to know which is the best of the best, USA Today’s readers have the answer: This year’s best is Delray Beach.
Delray Beach resides on the Atlantic side of Florida near Boca Raton and about halfway between the metropolises of Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The newspaper notes that Delray Beach “boasts a serene coastline with crystal-clear blue waters just steps from its vibrant downtown. With 2 miles of pristine sand and natural dunes, the beach was gifted to the city in the 1800s to ensure year-round public access.”
This is the second year Delray Beach has been ranked first by USA Today. The town’s efforts to preserve the public beach certainly play a part. Instead of high-rises, Delray Beach features scenic beauty and nature walks.
