Potential TD # 4 Forms, Watches and Warnings for Parts of South Florida

The disturbance we’ve been tracking is now Potential Tropical Depression # 4 and is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm.  The next name on the list is Debby.

At 11 am, Potential TD # 4 located in eastern Cuba, about 90 miles east-southeast of Camaguey and 420 miles southeast of Key West.  Maximum sustained winds were 30 miles per hour, and TD # 4 was moving west-northwest at 16 miles per hour at that time.

There’s a tropical storm warning on Florida’s Gulf coast from East Cape Sable to Bonita Beach.  A tropical storm warning means that tropical storm conditions are likely within 36 hours.

There’s also a tropical storm watch for the Keys from the Card Sound Bridge westward to the Dry Tortugas and for the Gulf coast from Bonita Beach to Aripeka.

Additional watches and warnings are expected later on Friday or on Saturday.  Whether or not any area of the Florida peninsula is included in warnings, heavy rain and gusty winds from what’s now Potential TD # 4 are expected over much of the state this weekend and early next week.

She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
