September Showers and Storms

Wednesday features some sun but more clouds, showers, and storms.  Heavy rain is possible in spots.  Expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches.  Highs on Wednesday are expected to be mostly in the low-90s.

Thursday will bring plenty of clouds and showers, with periods of storms that will linger into the evening.  Heavy rain is possible in spots.  Thursday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.

Friday will feature clouds, showers, and storms around South Florida.  Heavy rain is possible.  Friday’s highs will be near 90 degrees on the mainland and in the upper-80s in the Keys.

Saturday will see morning clouds and showers and afternoon and evening storms in the East Coast metro area.  Look for clouds and showers with periods of storms along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.  Heavy rain is possible.

Faith Based Events

Sunday’s forecast calls for a late summer mix of sun, clouds, showers, and storms.  Highs on Sunday will be in the low-90s on the mainland and near 90 degrees in the Keys.

In the tropics, we’re continuing to watch a wave in the eastern Atlantic.  It could become a depression by the end of the workweek.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
