Sunday’s weather will depend on the tropics, but right now, expect some sun, more clouds, and plenty of showers and storms on a gusty breeze. Saturday’s highs will be in the low 90s in the East Coast metro area and near 90 degrees along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.
Monday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun, clouds, and periods of showers and storms. Highs on Monday will be mostly in the low 90s.
In the tropics, we’re continuing to watch the area of disturbed weather that’s reached the Lesser Antilles and which looked much more organized on Wednesday afternoon. Computer model runs are now in general agreement that this feature will track near Cuba and into the Gulf of Mexico on Friday and Saturday. Closest approach to South Florida is likely to be on Sunday, but computer models are not in agreement on whether or not this feature will be a depression or tropical storm at that time. This feature is now forecast to reach the central Florida Gulf coast on Monday and be trapped over that portion of the peninsula, bringing heavy rain for several days. We’ll keep a close eye on this feature and be ready to act if necessary.
