Thursday features mostly sunny skies with a few passing showers in portions of the East Coast metro area.  Expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches.  Highs on Thursday will be in the mid-80s.

Friday will bring lots of sun on the mainland and a mix of sun and clouds in the Keys.  Friday’s highs will be in the mid-80s.

Saturday will feature more clouds than sun and an ocean breeze.  Saturday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-80s.

Sunday will be on the cloudy side around South Florida.  Sunday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-80s on the mainland and in the low 80s in the Keys.

Faith Based Events

Monday’s forecast calls for clouds and some showers in the East Coast metro area and partly sunny skies along the Gulf Coast.  Look for lots of clouds in the Keys.  Highs on Monday will be mostly in the mid-80s.

The tropical Atlantic is quiet right now and is expected to remain that way for the next several days.  After that, we’ll keep an eye on the southwestern Caribbean, where computer models indicate an area of low pressure could form by the end of next week.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
