Tallahassee,July 18, 2015 – The FBI and the Tallahassee (FL) Police Department are seeking information regarding the murder of Florida State University Law Professor Daniel Eric Markel.
On the morning of July 18, 2014, (one year ago) Markel was found in his car inside the garage of his residence in the Betton Hills section of Tallahassee, Florida. Markel suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to the hospital where he died the next day.
Law enforcement officials are seeking to identify a vehicle which may have been involved in this crime, possibly without the owner’s knowledge. It is described as a 2006 to 2009 Toyota Prius, the color of which appears to be metallic to light green, depending on the lighting, and is named “Silver Pine Mica” by Toyota. The windows of the car are dark tinted.

There are three distinctive characteristics of the car:
It has a missing tow bolt cover on the driver’s side front bumper.
The passenger side mirror housing is black in color, while the driver’s side mirror housing is the same color as the car itself.
There is a toll transponder similar to a Sunpass or E-Pass/EZ-Pass in the center of the front windshield. (SUNPASS IS TYPICALLY USED MORE IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA AREA/MARKET)
