Gas prices in Florida declined 17 cents per gallon in 10 days, reaching a state average of $2.69 per gallon Sunday.
According to AAA — The Auto Club Group, that’s the lowest daily average since March 2021.
It’s 14 cents less than one week ago, 17 cents less than a month ago and 44 cents less than a year ago.
But the savings may not last; the U.S. price of crude oil finished the week higher than the week prior, with Friday’s closing price of $59.12 per barrel up $1.80 from the week before — a 3% uptick.
The cheapest gas in Florida can be found in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area, where motorists are paying an average $2.50 per gallon, followed by Panama City ($2.52) and Pensacola ($2.55).
The priciest gas, meanwhile, can be found in the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area ($2.88), followed by Gainesville ($2.80) and Naples ($2.77).
Nationally, the per-gallon average is $2.80. States like Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas are driving down that number, with per-gallon prices of $2.23, $2.36 and $2.40, respectively.
The most expensive state to be a gas-dependent driver or motorcyclist is California, where a gallon costs $4.42, followed by Hawaii ($4.42) and Washington ($3.80).
