
Karina Michel Feld, a prominent producer and director known for her dynamic work in television, has won the prestigious Suncoast Regional Emmy Award for Outstanding Production. The award was presented at the Suncoast Regional Emmy Gala on December 7, 2024, in recognition of Michel’s outstanding contributions to the media industry, particularly for her work on the celebrated documentary, “Heart of Fl: PD” a project that has captivated audiences with its breathtaking storytelling and powerful message.
Michel, a Davenport resident, chose the Haines City Police Department because it had that “inner city vibe” and the ridealongs were “pretty amazing. I was inspired by the officers,” she said. “I’m so happy that the film and our local community and law enforcement got the recognition I was so hoping for,” Michel added.

On Thursday, The City of Haines City presented Michel with a proclamation at their City Commission meeting, where they honored and recognized her contribution and achievements to the area.
“Heart of Florida: PD” is an Emmy-winning documentary that follows the journey of police officers in Central Florida as they strive to make a positive impact in their community.
Directed by Karina Michel, the film focuses on officers, who face personal struggles while dedicating themselves to serving and protecting their community.
Through innovative policing methods and a focus on building trust, the officers find solace and purpose in their work. The documentary explores themes of resilience, redemption, and the transformative power of compassion in law enforcement, highlighting the courage and determination of those who serve others despite facing adversity.
