The venerable Farmers’ Almanac—an American staple since 1818—has announced that its 2026 edition will be its last. The Lewiston, Maine-based almanac said mounting financial pressures and a “chaotic media environment” forced the decision, ending its 208-year run.

Known for long-range weather forecasts, gardening and farming advice, moon-phase charts, and folklore-laden wisdom, the Farmers’ Almanac has served generations of readers as a go-to reference for outdoor planning and domestic life.  Its forecasting formula—based on sunspots, tidal action, planetary positions and other natural markers—had long been a point of both fascination and debate.

In their farewell statement, Editor Sandi Duncan and her team expressed gratitude to readers, contributors and retailers, reflecting on how the almanac became „a way of life“ for many.  While the print edition ends with 2026, the website will also shut down shortly afterward, closing a significant chapter of American publishing.

Faith Based Events

For those who have planted by its moon phases, tracked its storm predictions, or relied on its “best days” calendars, the announcement brings nostalgia and a sense of history: the Almanac’s legacy will endure even as its pages go to rest.
