WELLINGTON — Wellington’s International Polo Club Palm Beach founded by imprisoned millionaire John Goodman has just been sold to developer Mark Bellissimo, owner of the local Winter Equestrian Festival.

The club is being purchased by Bellissimo’s company, Wellington Equestrian Partners from a trust affiliated with Goodman for an undisclosed purchase price.

The deal is expected to close by the end of next month.

An insider told us today Bellissimo is expected to pay close to $60 million.

Faith Based Events

Earlier this year, Bellissimo bought The Wanderers Club, another club founded by Goodman, for $6.9 million, a steep loss for Goodman’s trust.

Goodman is serving a state prison term until November 2030 for the 2010 DUI manslaughter of a 23-year-old man.

As Gossip Extra told you exclusively last week, the Lake Worth-based United States Polo Association won the right to buy club for $42.5 million. But the trust reneged on its deal after secret negotiations with Bellissimo heated up.

“The trust liked the fact that Bellissimo was willing to buy the entire property, including Goodman’s old house” the insider said. “The USPA bid was for the polo facilities and about half the acreage.”[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”More Gossip” style=”outline” color=”primary” size=”lg” align=”left” link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gossipextra.com%2F2016%2F03%2F17%2Fjohn-goodman-mark-bellissimo-international-polo-club-4748%2F|title:More%20Gossip|target:%20_blank”][vc_message message_box_style=”3d” message_box_color=”turquoise”]
