New Year’s Day features a chilly morning, with feels-like temperatures in the low-40s on the mainland.  Then look for lots of sun but a very cool breeze that will keep afternoon temperatures below normal.  Thursday’s highs will be in the upper-60s on the East Coast and the Keys and near 70 degrees along the Gulf Coast.

Friday will bring another chilly morning, with lows in the low-50s on the mainland.  The day will be sunny around South Florida as a warmup begins.  Friday’s highs will be in the low-70s.

Saturday will feature morning lows mainly in the mid-50s on the mainland.  Look for lots of sun on the mainland and good sun with a few clouds at times in the Keys.  Saturday’s highs will be mainly in the mid-70s.

Sunday morning will be cool, with lows near 60 degrees on the mainland.  Then look for mostly sunny skies and a few showers in spots on the mainland, while the Keys will see clouds and showers.  Sunday’s highs will be near 80 degrees in the East Coast metro area, in the upper-70s along the Gulf Coast, and mainly in the mid-70s in the Keys.

Faith Based Events

Monday’s forecast calls for a cool morning with lows mainly in the upper-50s.  The day will be sunny in South Florida.  Highs on Monday will be in the upper-70s on the mainland and mainly in the low-70s in the Keys.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
