Chilly Front Sweeps Through South Florida Bringing Sunny Skies and Brisk Winds

Thursday features a cool morning, followed by increasingly breezy conditions and a mix of sun, clouds, and showers as a front moves in.  Expect an increased risk of dangerous rip currents along Gulf and Atlantic beaches.  Thursday’s highs will be mostly in the low 70s on the East Coast, in the upper 60s along the Gulf Coast, and near 70 degrees in the Keys.

Friday will bring cold morning lows in the upper 30s to mid-40s on the mainland and in the low 50s in the Keys.  The day will be sunny on the mainland, while the Keys will see plenty of sun and a few clouds.  Friday’s highs will only reach the mid 60s.

Saturday will feature morning lows in the chilly upper-40s to mid-50s on the mainland.  Then look for lots of sun around South Florida.  Saturday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-70s on the East Coast, in the low-70s along the Gulf Coast, and near 70 degrees in the Keys.

Sunday morning will be chilly again, with lows in the upper 40s to mid-50s on the mainland.  Then all of South Florida will see lots of sun and just a few clouds at times.  Sunday’s highs will be in the mid 70s on the mainland and near 70 degrees in the Keys.

Monday’s forecast calls for chilly morning lows in the low to mid-50s on the mainland, followed by sunny skies across South Florida.  Highs on Monday will be in the mid 70s on the mainland and near 70 degrees in the Keys.

She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
