PARIS — This morning, about 9:30 a.m., the renowned Louvre Museum was the scene of a daring robbery. According to Rachida Dati, France’s Culture Minister, no injuries were reported. She was on site alongside the museum’s security and police teams. The thieves targeted the Galerie d’Apollon wing, where the French Crown Jewels are displayed, using a freight lift and tools to gain entry. Reports indicate the robbers stole at least nine pieces of historic jewellery, previously associated with Napoleon I and Empress Josephine, and escaped on motor scooters. The museum announced it would remain closed for the day “for exceptional reasons” while authorities launch a full forensic investigation.
