MINNEAPOLIS — Alpha News has exclusively obtained and published a first-person video recording of the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. The footage, captured on a mobile device by the agent involved, provides a harrowing, close-quarters look at the Wednesday morning incident that has ignited protests and a fierce national debate over federal enforcement tactics.

The 48-second video begins with the agent, later identified as Jonathan Ross, exiting his vehicle and approaching a burgundy Honda Pilot parked perpendicularly across Portland Avenue. The scene is chaotic, filled with the blaring of sirens and horns. As Ross nears the driver’s side window, Good can be seen behind the wheel with a dog in the backseat.
“That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you,” Good is heard saying in a calm tone.
Ross continues to move around the rear of the SUV, filming the license plate while a second woman, identified by family as Good’s wife, Becca, confronts him. “We don’t change our plates every morning, just so you know,” she tells the agent. “You wanna come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy.”
The situation escalates rapidly as other masked agents approach the vehicle, screaming, “Get out of the car! Get out of the f***ing car!” The footage shows the Honda Pilot begin to reverse as Becca Good attempts to enter the passenger side.
As the vehicle then turns its wheels and begins to accelerate forward, the camera pans toward the sky. The sound of three distinct gunshots rings out, followed by a grunt from the agent. A voice on the recording is heard shouting an expletive as the SUV speeds away, ultimately crashing into a parked car and a light pole a short distance away.
A Narrative Divided
The release of this video adds a critical layer to the conflicting narratives surrounding the death of Good. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Secretary Kristi Noem have characterized the shooting as an act of self-defense against “domestic terrorism,” alleging that Good attempted to ram the agents with her vehicle.
Vice President JD Vance defended the agent’s actions on Thursday, noting that Officer Ross had been “nearly killed” and dragged by a fleeing driver in a separate incident just six months prior in Bloomington. “You think maybe he’s a little bit sensitive about somebody ramming him?” Vance asked during a White House briefing.
Conversely, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz have slammed the DHS account. Frey labeled the self-defense claim “garbage” and “bull****,” arguing that the video evidence shows a reckless use of power. “The presence of federal immigration enforcement agents is causing chaos in our city,” Frey stated, demanding that ICE leave Minneapolis immediately.
Who was Renee Good?
Renee Good was a resident of Minneapolis who, according to local activists and city council members, was at the scene to support her neighbors during “Operation Metro Surge”—the largest DHS operation in Twin Cities history involving over 2,000 agents.
Chief Brian O’Hara of the Minneapolis Police Department confirmed that Good was not a target of the federal operation. Her death has turned Portland Avenue into a site of mourning and protest, with hundreds of residents calling for federal accountability.
The FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) have taken over the investigation. As the city remains on edge, this newly obtained footage from Alpha News serves as a central piece of evidence that both sides are using to justify their version of a tragedy that has shaken the state.
