AccuWeather Forecasters Track Late-October Tropical Threat Off Southeast Coast as Isaias Cleanup Continues

AccuWeather hurricane experts identified the risk of tropical development off the southeastern U.S. coast from October 20-23 nearly a week early because a slow-moving cold front could help it intensify.

“Stalled fronts can act as a starting point for tropical development, providing pockets of spin that can organize into a tropical system when conditions are favorable. This is a common way for storms to form in the Atlantic early and late in the hurricane season, and it’s why we’re watching this area closely,” said AccuWeather lead hurricane expert Alexander DaSilva.

Even though development is considered low risk at this time, identifying these threats early provides more time to prepare and make informed decisions as the forecast evolves.

People and business across the southeastern U.S. will want to monitor the forecast as AccuWeather hurricane experts will continue to refine the timing, location, and likelihood of the development in the coming days.
