South Florida Weather: Sizzling Heat, Beach Rip Currents, and Active Atlantic Tropical Waves

Monday features plenty of hot sun and a gusty breeze in the East Coast metro area.  An elevated risk of dangerous rip currents is in place at the Atlantic beaches.  The Gulf Coast will be sunny until some afternoon storms develop.  The Keys will see lots of sun, with a chance of a stray shower or storm.  Monday’s highs will be in the low 90s — but it will feel even hotter, so stay hydrated and out of the sun.

Tuesday will bring lots of hot sun to all of South Florida.  A stray storm is also possible in spots in the Keys.  Tuesday’s highs will be in the low 90s.

Wednesday will feature sunny skies with the chance of a stray shower or storm in spots in the East Coast metro area and the Keys.  The Gulf Coast will see lots of hot sun.  Wednesday’s highs will be in the low 90s.

Thursday will see hot sun and maybe a cloud or two in the East Coast metro area and the Keys.  The Gulf Coast will be sunny and hot with the chance of an afternoon storm.  Thursday’s highs will be in the low 90s in the east coast metro area and the Keys and near 90 degrees along the Gulf coast.

Faith Based Events

Friday’s forecast calls for another sunny and hot August day with the chance of a storm or two in spots.  Highs on Friday will be in the low 90s.

In the tropics, we’re keeping an eye on three features right now.  One is a wave in the central Atlantic that has a low chance of developing, since it will encounter unfavorable upper level winds before it reaches the Lesser Antilles.  The other is a trough of low pressure a couple of hundred miles west-northwest of Bermuda.  This feature has a low chance of developing as it moves eastward into cooler waters.   Finally, an area of low pressure has developed in the eastern Atlantic a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands.  This feature has a medium chance of becoming a depression as it moves generally to the west-northwest through the eastern and central Atlantic.
