Soarin’s American makeover is officially debuting May 26, Disney World said this week.
Disney gave the latest Spring and Summer ride openings across its theme parks as people start planning their Orlando vacations.
“With the kids out of school and looking for excitement, this summer is going to be all about family fun,” Disney said on its parks blog, bringing good news for “Star Wars” and “Bluey” fans as well as Disney’s hardcore enthusiasts.
On Soarin’, an Epcot flight simulator, people normally see the Eiffel Tower, the Egyptian pyramids and impressive scenes in Mother Nature. However, Disney is updating the attraction with new scenes of U.S. cities and landscapes as part of The Walt Disney Co.’s celebration of the United States’s sesquicentennial.
In addition, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin re-opens April 8 at the Magic Kingdom. The dark ride has been closed for a refurbishment as Disney updates the ride with a new scene and character, as well as improved targets.
Parents whose preschool kids are obsessed with the children’s show “Bluey” can mark May 26 on the calendar. That’s when characters arrive for meet-and-greets at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom.
“Once guests hop off the Wildlife Express Train, it’s time for fun. Play special games directly from ‘Bluey’ episodes, grab a photo with Bluey and Bingo themselves, and even discover animals native to Bluey’s home country, Australia, at ‘Jumping Junction,’” Disney said on the parks blog.
Hollywood Studios is also updating the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run with a new quest starring Baby Yoda.
“(Just in time for the new movie), Din Djarin, aka The Mandalorian, and his youngling Grogu lead you on a new mission tracking down ex-Imperial officers throughout the galaxy,” Disney said on the parks blog. “For the first time ever, you’ll be in charge of what planets your ship visits, so you may fly through some familiar locations. Plus, a new gameplay addition allows our trusty engineers to communicate directly with Grogu during the mission.”
