Florida Shivers Under Sun and Steel: A Rollercoaster Week of Chilly Dawns and Coastal Breezes

Tuesday features a cold (but not freezing) morning, followed by lots of sun along the Gulf coast and mostly sunny skies in the East Coast metro area and the Keys.  A high risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches.  Tuesday’s highs will be in the upper 60s on the mainland and the mid 60s in the Keys.

Wednesday will bring morning lows in the chilly upper 40s to mid-50s on the mainland.  The day will be mostly sunny again in the East Coast metro area and the Keys, while the Gulf Coast will see lots of sun and just a few clouds at times.  Wednesday’s highs will be in the mid-70s along the East Coast metro area and in the low-70s along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.

Thursday will feature morning lows mostly in the mid 50s on the mainland.  Then we’ll see a mix of sun and clouds around South Florida — but the Gulf coast will also see some showers on a gusty breeze as another front moves in.  Thursday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-70s along the East Coast metro area, in the upper 60s along the Gulf Coast, and in the Keys.

Friday morning will be cold, with lows in the mid to upper 40s on the mainland.  The day will be sunny in South Florida.  Friday’s highs will be in the upper 60s in the East Coast metro area and the mid-60s along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.

Saturday’s forecast calls for cold morning lows in the upper 40s to low 50s on the mainland, followed by lots of sun throughout South Florida.  Highs on Saturday will be mostly in the low 70s in the East Coast metro area and in the upper 60s along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.

She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
