The venerable Jim Henson legacy is being dispersed in a landmark auction as the company he founded celebrates its 70th anniversary. For the first time ever, the Jim Henson Company is offering more than 400 puppets, props, costumes, set pieces and memorabilia publicly.

Among the headline lots: an original full‑body “Gelfling” puppet from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, estimated at $15,000‑$25,000, and items from the beloved children’s series Fraggle Rock. The auction catalogue makes clear that tens of thousands of pieces were reviewed before selecting these items for sale.

Karen Falk, director of the Henson archives, said the initiative offered “something for every fan and collector interested in the Henson legacy and our contributions to pop culture and entertainment.”  The auction, handled by Julien’s Auctions, opens online and culminates in a live event at the company’s Hollywood location.

Faith Based Events

Whether it’s puppeteered stars from The Muppet Show, cult‑fantasy creatures or behind‑the‑scenes artifacts from Henson’s groundbreaking work in television and film, the collection spans generations. “His puppets transcended the arts, becoming cultural forces that continue to touch millions of all ages,” the auction house said.

Collectors and fans alike now have their chance to own a piece of the Henson story — a story that began in 1955 and still resonates today.
