WASHINGTON — At a Wednesday forum hosted by Breitbart News, Vice President J.D. Vance acknowledged widespread frustration over the rising cost of living, telling Americans “we hear you” while also urging them to show “a little bit of patience” as economic improvements gradually take hold.
Speaking at the event, Vance emphasized that the current administration has made “incredible progress” reversing the economic policies of the previous Administration, but cautioned that “it’s going to take a little bit of time for every American to feel that economic boom, which we really do believe is coming.”
Vance placed much of the blame for current affordability problems on the prior administration, arguing that Democrats had left the country with high inflation, excessive regulation, and large deficits. He claimed that the effects of those problems cannot be undone overnight. “The thing I’d ask for the American people is a little bit of patience,” he said, noting the economy “was not harmed in 10 months.”
The remarks come at a politically sensitive time for the Republican coalition. Following disappointing results in recent state elections, the administration is seeking to reassure voters worried about cost-of-living pressures. Vance also addressed infighting within the party, urging members to focus on shared goals rather than internal fractures.
While the message sought to combine empathy with accountability, economic analysts caution that the public’s patience may have limits if tangible price relief does not arrive soon. Vance’s comments underscore the administration’s broader challenge: convincing voters that relief is on the way, even as the visible pain of high prices persists today.
