Consumers across the United States are being urged to check their freezers following two distinct recall announcements involving popular food items: frozen spinach and veggie spring rolls.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a nationwide recall of Sno Pac Foods’ frozen spinach products due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall affects Del Mar 35-lb bulk organic frozen spinach and 10-ounce bags of Sno Pac Organic Frozen Cut Spinach, distributed to retailers nationwide. Sno Pac halted production while investigating the contamination’s origin. Although no illnesses have been confirmed, health officials warn Listeria can pose serious risks, particularly for pregnant people, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
Separately, Tai Foong USA has issued an allergy alert and recall of Fusia Asian Inspirations Veggie Spring Rolls sold exclusively at Aldi. The recall was triggered after discovering that some packages labeled as veggie spring rolls may contain shrimp — a known allergen not disclosed on the label. The affected product is a 10-ounce retail package with UPC 4099100222258 and “Best Before” date 5/17/2027. To date, no allergic reactions have been reported, but consumers with shellfish allergies are strongly warned not to consume it.
In both cases, consumers who possess the impacted products are advised not to consume them. The recalled spinach should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a refund. Similarly, the veggie spring rolls should be discarded or returned to Aldi for a full refund.
As both recalls affect widely distributed food items, health authorities stress the importance of vigilance in checking packaging codes and being cautious with products containing undeclared allergens or potential pathogens.
