
A suspicious package and device similar to others sent to top Democrats this week was sent to a Greenwich Street building that houses the offices of Tribeca Films and Tribeca Grill that Robert De Niro owns, law enforcement and sources tell News 4 (WNBC).
The device was received sometime early Thursday, according to the sources familiar with the investigation. The NYPD said there is no need for an evacuation as the building was unoccupied at the time.
It comes after two more pipe bombs were discovered in packages and they were addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters of California, which had brrought the total of explosive devices mailed to several high-profile critics of President Donald Trump and the New York City offices of CNN to seven. Former U.S. President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were among the targets of suspected package bombs delivered to several high-profile Democrats and CNN, which the FBI said it was investigating as an act of terrorism.
At least eight suspicious parcels were intercepted before reaching any intended recipients, including Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder, former CIA Director John Brennan and prominent Democratic Party donor George Soros.
Two packages were sent to California Congresswoman Maxine Waters, the FBI said. Investigators were trying to track down another suspicious parcel they believe was addressed to Obama’s vice president, Joe Biden, a federal official told Reuters late on Wednesday. Continue reading
