South Florida will see showers and storms moving westward on Friday as we watch the very busy tropics. Here at home, some early east coast showers start the day. The activity will shift westward after midday, with the Gulf coast and interior regions seeing the most storms and showers late in the day. Highs on Friday will be mostly in the upper 80s.Saturday will feature moisture streaming in on southerly winds, so look for periods of showers and storms. Saturday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.
Sunday will bring some sun and periods of showers and storms around South Florida. Sunday’s highs will be in the low 90s.
A more typical September pattern returns on Monday, with early east coast showers, sun and clouds, and afternoon showers and storms in western areas. Monday’s highs will be in the low 90s.
Tuesday’s forecast includes sun, clouds, and periods of showers and storms. Highs on Tuesday will be in the low 90s.
In the tropics, Florence is now a tropical storm but is expected to re-strengthen. At 5 am Friday, Florence was located near 25.1 North, 50.7 West, and was moving west at 7 miles per hour. Maximum sustained winds were 65 miles per hour. Florence will be moving out of an area of strong wind shear and potentially threaten Bermuda or the U.S. coast from the Carolinas northward after the middle of next week.
