A nationwide recall of chicken fettuccine alfredo sold at Kroger and Walmart is now underway after federal health agencies connected the ready-to-eat products to a deadly Listeria outbreak.
Since last August, there have been three deaths and one pregnancy loss connected to the outbreak.
The products may still be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers, so check your fridge and throw out or return any recalled products immediately.
Which Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Products Are Being Recalled?
The recall includes three ready-to-eat products made by FreshRealm that were sold at Kroger and Walmart stores across the country:
- 32.8-oz. tray packages containing “MARKETSIDE GRILLED CHICKEN ALFREDO WITH FETTUCCINE Tender Pasta with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, White Meat Chicken and Shaved Parmesan Cheese” with best-by date 06/27/25 or prior.
- 12.3 oz. tray packages containing “MARKETSIDE GRILLED CHICKEN ALFREDO WITH FETTUCCINE Tender Pasta with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, White Meat Chicken, Broccoli and Shaved Parmesan Cheese” with best-by date 06/26/25 or prior.
- 12.5 oz. tray packages containing “HOME CHEF Heat & Eat Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo with pasta, grilled white meat chicken, and Parmesan cheese” with best-by date 06/19/25 or prior.
The products also have the establishment numbers “EST. P-50784,” “EST. P-47770,” or “EST. P-47718.”
What Do We Know About the Outbreak So Far?
To date, 17 people have become ill with Listeria across 13 states. People started to get sick in August 2024, and the last infection onset was in May 2025.
In March, health officials collected a routine sample of FreshRealm’s chicken fettuccine alfredo, and it came back positive for the same strain of Listeria that caused the outbreak.
The investigation is still ongoing, and health officials are working to determine if a specific ingredient in the chicken fettuccine alfredo is responsible for the outbreak.
In the meantime, the chicken fettuccine alfredo recall has been given the highest risk level.
Which States Are Affected?
While the recalled chicken fettuccine alfredo was sold nationwide, only 13 states have reports of Listeria connected to the outbreak.
However, health agencies have yet to reveal which states are affected.

What Should You Do?
If you shop at Kroger or Walmart, check your fridge for the recalled chicken fettuccine alfredo products.
If you have any of the recalled items, do not consume them. Throw them away, or return them to the store for a refund. Then monitor for symptoms of Listeria.
What Are the Symptoms of Listeria?
Common symptoms of Listeria include:
- Fever
- Flu-like symptoms, such as muscle aches and fatigue
- Headache
- Stiff neck
- Confusion
- Loss of balance
- Seizures
Listeria symptoms typically begin within two weeks of eating a contaminated food.
If infected, some groups—pregnant people, those aged 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems—have a higher risk of getting a severe illness.
Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms after eating a recalled food.
