Saturday features a chilly morning and cool afternoon with sunny skies along the Gulf Coast and a nice mix of sun and clouds in the East Coast metro area.  Look for plenty of clouds in the Keys.  Over the weekend, expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents along the Palm Beach County coast.  Highs on Saturday will be near 70 degrees in the East Coast metro area and the Keys and in the mid-60s along the Gulf Coast.

Sunday will bring a chilly start, with lows in the upper-40s to low-50s on the mainland.  The day will be mostly sunny on the East Coast metro area and the Keys, while the Gulf Coast will see lots of sun.  Sunday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-70s in the East Coast metro area, in the low-70s along the Gulf Coast, and near 70 degrees in the Keys.

Monday will feature a milder morning and a mix of sun and clouds. A few afternoon showers are possible in the East Coast metro area. Monday’s highs will be in the mid-70s.

Tuesday will see a mix of sun, clouds, and showers in the East Coast metro area, while the Gulf Coast and the Keys will see a mix of sun and clouds. Look for a mild and cloudy night on Christmas Eve and the first night of Hanukkah. Tuesday’s highs will be mostly in the mid-70s, with a few suburban locations reaching the upper-70s.

The Christmas Day forecast calls for a mix of sun, clouds, and showers.  Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper-70s on the mainland and the mid-70s in the Keys.

Donna Thomas has studied hurricanes for two decades. She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
