Hurricane Ernesto is battering Bermuda with dangerous storm surge, serious flooding, and damaging winds. While Ernesto had maximum sustained winds of 100 miles per hour late Friday afternoon, drier air is affecting it and some weakening is possible. Ernesto was moving north-northeast at 13 miles per hour at that time, and the slower forward motion will subject Bermuda to the effects of the hurricane even longer. Swells from Ernesto continue to produce dangerous rip currents and high surf along much of the U.S. East Coast and the Bahamas.
