Wednesday features lots of hot sun alternating with mainly afternoon and early evening storms.  A heat advisory is in effect until 6 pm — so stay hydrated and out of the sun.  Highs on Wednesday will be mostly in the mid-90s on the mainland and the low 90s in the Keys.

Thursday will bring a mix of sun and storms in the morning.  Look for hot sun alternating with clouds and showers in the afternoon and evening.  Thursday’s highs will be mostly in the low-90s, with a few inland locations reaching the mid-90s.

Friday will be another day of hot sun, some morning storms, and plenty of showers in the afternoon that will last into the evening.  Friday’s highs will be in the low 90s.

Faith Based Events

Saturday will feature lots of sun, some clouds at times, and periods of showers and storms, mostly from the mid-afternoon to the early evening.  Saturday’s highs will be in the low 90s on the mainland and near 90 degrees in the Keys.

Sunday’s forecast calls for a mix of hot sun, and some showers and storms on the mainland.  Look for clouds and showers in the Keys.  Highs on Sunday will be in the low-90s.

In the tropics, Ernesto was approaching hurricane strength as it moved over the Virgin Islands Tuesday evening.  At that time, Ernesto was still a tropical storm with 65 mile per hour winds, and it was moving west-northwest at 18 miles per hour.  Hurricane watches and tropical storm warnings are up for Puerto Rico and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.  While Ernesto is forecast to stay well east of the Bahamas and the U.S. east coast, it is expected to pass close or over Bermuda late in the week.

She holds a PhD in history when her experience with Hurricane Andrew ultimately led her to earn a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. Donna spent 15 years at WFOR-TV (CBS4 in Miami-Fort Lauderdale), where she worked as a weather producer with hurricane experts Bryan Norcross and David Bernard. She also produced hurricane specials and weather-related features and news coverage, as well as serving as pool TV producer at the National Hurricane Center during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Donna also served as a researcher on NOAA's Atlantic Hurricane Database Reanalysis Project. Donna specializes in Florida's hurricane history.
