Don’t know about you, but I didn’t think the life of a former Miss Universe winner, Alicia Machado, was a presidental matter. However, Republican nominee Donald Trump seems to be making it one. Here’s a look at the morning headlines:
Politico: Trump assails former Miss Universe and Clinton in early morning tweet blitz
Donald Trump wrote on Twitter Friday morning that Hillary Clinton was “duped and used” by former Miss Universe winner Alicia Machado, urging his followers to “check out [her] sex tape and past.”
Machado, a native of Venezuela, vaulted into the political spotlight toward the end of Monday night’s presidential debate, when Clinton mentioned her during a riff on Trump’s long history of derogatory remarks towards women. Clinton noted that Trump has referred to Machado as “Miss Piggy,” a reference to her supposed weight gain as Miss Universe, and “Miss Housekeeping,” because of her Hispanic heritage.
CBS News: Trump: Clinton “duped and used” by former Miss Universe
Early Friday morning, GOP nominee Donald Trump fired off a trio of tweets personally attacking former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, reports CBS News correspondent Major Garrett.
In one tweet, Trump called Machado a “con” and wrote that Clinton using her as “a paragon of virtue” shows bad judgment. Trump also urges his 12 million Twitter followers to look into a sex tape and asks: “Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?”
USAToday: For the Record: Donald Trump’s having a tough week with the ladies
Donald Trump’s having a tough week with the ladies. After a disappointing debate against Hillary Clinton, a poll reported by NBC found Trump’s performance left most likely women voters unsatisfied.
Then Trump spent recent days defending criticisms of Alicia Machado, a former Miss Universe who said Trump called her “Miss Piggy” after she gained weight and “Miss Housekeeping” in an apparent reference to her Latino heritage.
Then, on Thursday, a report surfaced that Trump demanded unattractive women be fired from a Trump golf club in California.
