Peter Wood, the esure British insurance mogul, saved quite a few pretty pennies on the estate of the late billionaire and long-time Palm Beacher John Kluge.
About 2 billion pretty pennies!
Wood, according to a Palm Beach realtor who didn’t want his name used, just paid $39 million for the 4.3 acre estate at 89 Middle Road that had been listed at $59 million since 2011!
That’s a discount of $20 million, which prices the house at about the exact market value of $38.9 million, according to the Palm Beach County appraiser’s office.
Wood purchased the property from Columbia University, which was given the Addison Mizner-designed estate by Kluge.
The Mediterranean Revival Kluge estate boasts 10 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 150 feet of oceanfront and two main homes and three staff houses along with huge gardens and fountains.
