Talking to the news service after Browardbeat.com posted the story below, former state Sen. Nan Rich is quoted as saying that other commissioners encouraged her to run.
“I was approached by some term-limited commissioners who think I could fill a void in Broward,” Rich told Sunshine State News.
What convinced her, says Sunshine State News, is that with term limits the “commission loses advocates for programs dealing with senior citizens, children, juvenile justice and Medicaid, Broward citizens will need a commissioner who can hit the ground running on human services issues — which happen to be (Rich’s) signature issues.”
The only problem is that handling those issues is largely the work of other governments. Why let facts get in the way of political ambition?
Who convinced her to run?
