Many many years ago, when people thought of the future they thought flying cars, needless to say they were a little off! But no one saw this one coming: Buttered popcorn Oreo. Buzz60’s Maria Mercedes Galuppo has more.
Oreo never fails to deliver with the new flavors. Some of the flavors have classic-potential (dark chocolate). Sometimes, they’re a twist on another favorite dessert (mint chocolate chip ice cream). A handful of the new flavors that Oreo puts out are just plain bizarre, yet somehow, they work.
One of the latest Oreo creations reportedly hitting shelves soon falls in the latter category. According to the Instagram account @thejunkfoodaisle, limited edition Buttered Popcorn Oreos are coming soon. I can’t say I’ve ever wished I could have the taste of popcorn in cookie form, but Oreo is certainly on to something here with the sweet and salty vibes.
Apparently, without knowing what flavor it was, the food blogger was sure the new Buttered Popcorn Oreo was pineapple flavored after just licking the creme. Once @thejunkfoodaisle tried the whole cookie, though, the taste was similar to “everyone’s least favorite Jelly Belly (but better!).” Alright, so not a rave review by any means, but these would still be fun to try.
I would want to eat the Buttered Popcorn Oreos with a few chocolate chips, to really achieve that sweet and salty taste. We reached out to Oreo for confirmation and more information regarding the popcorn Oreos, and we’ll update as we hear back.
In the meantime, check out some of our favorite existing Oreos. Oh, and you’ll need milk, too.
