UPDATED: Key West Powerboat Races filled with thrills, spills and a fire (Video)

UPDATED Key West 5pm, Nov 7, 2014 – Fridays Key West Powerboat Races got underway to the cheers of the crowds. The thrills and spills were still evident as the WHM Motorsports spun out of control at Turn #3. The team were able to regain control and finish todays race.  They’ll need to keep better control if they are to beat Broadco, which finished first in the Superboat Class today. The final race day is Sunday.

By EyesOnNews.com, Key West, Nov 7, 2014 – Wednesday was the start of the 34th annual Key West World Championship, it was also the start of thrills, spills and a fire. It looked like mayhem on the water but fortunately only two people were injured.

Thursday was even more dramatic as a powerboat with 6 people aboard caught fire. Luckily good samaritans quickly came to the rescue.  The US Coast Guard has some home video of the boat fire (See below).

But bot everything was a diaster, we also have a slide show (also below) of some of the racing, thanks to our friends at the Florida Keys News Bureau.
