Saturday, April 22nd is Earth Day. The city of North Miami is celebrating with both an Earth Day Cleanup and Green Awareness Fair hosted by Councilwoman Carol F. Keys, Esq. Volunteers are needed for the Earth Day Cleanup. Tasks for volunteers include service projects, tidying public spaces and gardening. The community cleanup projects will take place at Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park, located at 1725 NE 135 Street, Claude Pepper Park, at 1255 NW 135 Street, and Clyde Judson Community Center, at 12100 NW 16 Avenue from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers may pre-register at https://northmiamipr.wufoo.com/forms/z1ohwkxj1snityd/.
The Green Awareness and Recycling Event will include free paper shredding, electronic waste disposal services and green awareness demonstrations. The Community Planning and Development Department will give away fruit trees, flowering trees and an array of eco-friendly products on a first-come, first-served basis.
