Documents Show Promise, and Letdown, Around Trump Tower Meeting (Video)

The Senate Judiciary Committee released transcripts Wednesday, of interviews with the participants of a now-infamous June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between Trump campaign representatives and a Kremlin-linked Russian lawyer. Andy Sullivan reports.

The Senate Judiciary Committee released on Wednesday thousands of page of transcripts and other documents related to a 2016 meeting at Trump Tower between members of the Trump campaign and a Russian lawyer who promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, attended the meeting, as did Paul Manafort, then the campaign chairman, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law.

Much of what occurred that day is already publicly known, such as who attended the meeting, why it was set up and what everyone says was discussed. But the newly released documents offer the most detailed, firsthand account of what transpired before, during and after the June 9 meeting.

The following are some of the key findings from the documents, and why they are important.

Rob Goldstone offered to arrange a meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
