Wednesday’s Forecast: More Sun, Storms, Tropics

wednesday's forecastSouth Florida will have storms and sun in Wednesday’s forecast, and we’ll continue to watch the disturbance in the Windward Islands. Here at home, periods of sun and clouds will be followed by afternoon storms working their way eastward from the Gulf coast to metro Miami-Dade and Broward on a southwesterly wind. Highs will be mostly in the upper 80s.

wednesday's forecastLook for more afternoon storms on Thursday, along with highs near 90 degrees.

Friday features sun and clouds at times and developing afternoon storms, especially well inland. Friday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.

Saturday’s forecast includes some early east coast and Keys showers, afternoon storms in spots, and highs in the upper 80s.

Expect the same on Sunday, but our longer term forecast will depend on the future of the disturbance we’re watching.

wednesday's forecastThat disturbance is now affecting the Windward Islands. It’s likely to strengthen to tropical depression or tropical storm status at any time as it moves into the Caribbean. It is forecast to strengthen and take a generally west-northwestward track over the next couple of days, but then the computer models diverge.

wednesday's forecastSome of the models show the system tracking northward into or near the Bahamas early next week, a slower time frame and similar track is indicated by the main European model, and other models move the system to the west-northwest a bit longer. We’ll have to watch very closely to see what happens.
